You are likely in the early stages of executing the goals that you set for yourself this year.
How is it going so far?
If you are anything like me, you love goal setting. I used to spend hours writing out SMART goals that tied to my ultimate end goal in life.
However, this often led to a feeling of guilt/shame throughout the year as my priorities shifted or life threw me a curveball.
So, in 2020 (and now in 2021), before the world fell apart, my wife and I decided that instead of goal setting, we’d set “non-goals,” things that we would NOT do.
For example, instead of the goal “I want to be rich,” try-out “I do not want to be poor.” This can often lead to much more actionable and controllable things you can execute today.
Write out the moments we felt the most stressed/anxious over the past year and try to determine what we were doing/focused on. If we were able to determine the cause, we then put it down as something to NOT do in the next year.
The craziness that was 2020 ended up being one of the greatest years for my personal development and mental calmness.
