Although that question is far above my pay grade and I do not have experience in a war zone, I will attempt to give my two cents:

I think the most powerful thing a human possesses is the ability to choose your attitude toward any situation. I know Viktor Frankl talks a lot about finding a meaning in order to get through struggles in his book Man’s Search for Meaning.

I think by developing a strong inner self you will be able to get through struggles more effectively. And changing your viewpoint about your situation is a great start.

However, I can not even start to imagine how hard it would be in a war zone.
